since centuries
The historical mentions of the historic walls date back to the 14th century. Formerly known as the Straßerhof and later as the "Hotel Moser zum Goldenen Adler", the hotel has been licensed to serve beer, wine and spirits and to hold weddings since 2 May 1769.
With the takeover and loving, careful restoration of the former Hotel Moser by the Czerny family, not only was this architectural gem with its stone portal, marble floors and vaulted ceilings preserved and is now a special kind of holiday home as the Hotel Norica Palais, but the Zum Goldenen Adler inn also upholds the tradition of the inn once again! The first inn sign with an eagle's head, brewery badge and a bunch of grapes was put up back in 1820.
And there is another historical entry to mention: Franz Grillparzer, Austria's most famous poet, also enjoyed stopping off here during his stays in Gastein!

A day in the fresh, crystal-clear mountain air makes you really hungry! The Zum Goldenen Adler inn is therefore definitely not to be missed. The cosy restaurant, furnished with great attention to detail, and the sunny terrace invite you to linger. Get in the mood for a hike with a hearty lunch, fortify yourself during a stroll through Bad Hofgastein or enjoy our specialities in the evening in a convivial atmosphere. But no matter what time of day you visit the Wirtshaus zum Goldenen Adler, our kitchen team will spoil you from 12:00 to 21:30 with freshly cooked, hearty meals - using local ingredients wherever possible, of course!
Our menu reads like an excerpt from traditional Austrian cuisine - from semolina dumpling soup and baked mountain cheese to fried chicken and boiled beef and to finish off with baked apple wheels or a Kaiserschmarrn - we wish you bon appétit!
Our inn classic - a hearty roast pork (in Austria: "Schweinebraten") from the pork belly - is a well-kept family recipe and an absolute must on your holiday in Bad Hofgastein!
