According to the motto "all roads lead to Rome", you can choose between car, train, bus or plane when you arrive in Gastein - depending on the length of the route from your home town to your holiday home. Arriving by train

For those who like to travel ecologically and thus environmentally friendly, the train is the best alternative. Especially if you are traveling with children, this means of transport is definitely the most entertaining and stress-free. Not only the Austrian Federal Railways but also the Swiss Federal Railways and Deutsche Bahn have all three locations in Gastein on their timetables. You enjoy a special comfort when you arrive with the most modern Austrian high-speed trains! Trains run eight times a day at two-hour intervals on the Tauern route into the Gastein Valley. The relaxed journey with the ÖBB Railjet takes an hour and 15 minutes. The ride on the Tauern Railway is very entertaining and the many beautiful views make you want to conquer the mountains and alpine pastures. When you arrive at Bad Hofgastein train station, our hotel taxi is waiting for you. It is best to coordinate this with us when you make your booking.

Arriving by car

For those who would like to be independent and flexible at their holiday destination, because they would like to explore the Gastein Valley with all its beauties, arriving by car is the best alternative. In addition, you can be a little more generous when packing your suitcase and choosing your holiday outfit, as you are not bound by any weight limits and you only have to stow the suitcase in the car at home. In the Thermenhotels Gastein we will of course carry your suitcases for you!

Arriving from Eastern Austria:
Take the A1 to the Salzburg junction. There change to the A10, Tauernautobahn, direction Villach. At Bischofshofen you leave the motorway and continue on the federal road B311 towards Gasteinertal. At Lena, turn onto the B167, which will take you directly to Bad Hofgastein.

Arrival from Innsbruck / Munich:
After the border crossing at Walserberg, leave the A8 and turn onto the A10 Tauern motorway towards Villach. Take this to the Pongau junction (Bischofshofen). Then continue first on the B311 and from Lend on the B167 in the direction of Gastein.

Coming from Innsbruck, you can also leave the A12 at Wörgl Ost and drive on the B178 to St. Johann. Then it goes on the B164 to Saalfelden and on the B311 to Lend.

Arrival via Klagenfurt / Villach / Slovenia / Italy:
Coming from the south, take the Tauern motorway towards Salzburg to the Pongau junction. After the Bischofshofen exit, the Pinzgauer Bundesstrasse B311 leads towards Gasteinertal. In Land you have to turn onto the B167 to Gastein. Then you have almost reached your holiday destination!

Arriving by plane

If you come by plane, you may get a first impression of the sublime beauty of the Gastein mountains as you approach the airport! The closest airport to the Gastein Valley is in the city of Salzburg.
41 non-stop flights from many countries in Europe and the Middle East arrive at Salzburg Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Airport every day. There are direct flights from, for example, Amsterdam, Antalya, Berlin, Birmingham, Bristol, Burgas, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Istanbul, Cologne, Kos, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Rotterdam, Split, Tel Aviv.
The flight time from Berlin, Hamburg or Düsseldorf only takes a little longer than 1 hour and from London you can be there in less than 2 hours.
This means that Gastein is often only a stone's throw from your home! The airport is very well connected to the city and so you can get to the train station quickly by bus or shuttle taxi. Then you continue by train to Gastein. Or if you have already booked a rental car, you can be in Gastein in around 1 hour, as Salzburg Airport has its own motorway access. It is therefore a perfect starting point for traveling on to Gastein by car via the Tauern motorway.
Numerous transfer services bring you mostly in minibuses from Salzburg Airport to the front door of your accommodation in just one and a half hours.

Other international airports in the area are Munich, Innsbruck and Vienna, from which you can also travel by train or taxi.
